Volcano
Open 2001
 The
Volcano Open is a unique tournament played in Iceland's
Westman Islands. Set in an old Volcano this is a great test
of golf. Teeing off against the backdrop of volcanic walls,
changing wind directions on the same hole and playing across
the sea are all features of golf in the Westman Islands.
USA Golf Holidays offers packages to play in The Volcano
Open, which is open to both professional and amateur golfers.
Competitors will play in two handicap divisions 0 -14.4
and 14.5 - 28. There will be prizes for the first three
places with handicap in each division plus a prize for the
best gross score in each division.
Mon 2nd July 2001
Evening flight on Icelandair from USA to Keflavik, Iceland.
(Departure cities include New York, Baltimore, Boston, Orlando,
Minneapolis and Halifax)
Tues 3rd July 2001
Early Morning arrival in Iceland. Pick up rental car for
your two nights in Reykjavik. Rest of the day for sighting
seeing around Reykjavik or optional golf can be arranged.
Wed 4th July 2001
Morning round of golf at one of Reykjavik's area courses.
Optional tours in the afternoon include, The Blue Lagoon,
Reykjavik city tour or Jeep Safari.
Thurs 5th July 2001
Morning flight to the Westman Islands on Air Iceland. Registration
and practice round for The Volcano Open or optional boat
trip around the island can be arranged.
Fri 6th July 2001
Opening reception in the afternoon. This evening at 10:00pm
the first round of The Volcano Open commences. Experience
the midnight sun.
Sat 7th July 2001
Second round of The Volcano Open.
Awards Presentation dinner.
Sun 8th July 2001
Morning flight to Reykjavik and bus transfer to Keflavik
(International airport) for flight home to the USA
